Description
Many acres of white and black spruce forests are inhabited in the Delta. The White Spruce (Picea Glauca) has many medicinal properties and has been used traditionally by first Nations People for medicine and food.
The fresh growing tips are high in Vitamin C and offer a unique flavor to foods when they’re cooked. The resin from the tree has anti-inflammatory antimicrobial, anti-fungal and anti-tumoral properties. We offer dried spruce tips powdered, whole as well as spruce gum the resin collected from the tree. This is usually tinctured with alcohol or oil to create a salve that is good for infections, or the raw spruce gum can be applied to an infected tooth to relieve infection. Spruce tips are collected in early spring, and make a great flavouring for teas, baking and even iced cream. They are high in Vitamin C and are rich in beneficial vitamins and minerals.
