Green Alder

$9.99

The Green Alder Tree (Alnus Viridis Crispa) has been used traditionally by First Nations Cultures in the boreal forest. It has been used as an eye bath to clarify eyes. The catkins contain high amounts of vitamin A and C and when dried and ground are used as a spice. This spice tastes much the same as lemon pepper. Baths can be made from the bark soaked in water. We offer bark and packages of catkins that can be used as spice or for baking, poultices and tinctures. Our catkins are harvested in late fall, once they have matured. Only male catkins are harvested for the spice.
