Description
The Blueberry (Vaccinium) is known as the superfruit of the Cumberland Delta it is found in various locations in the pine forest. Blueberry plants can be from 20 to 30 centimeters tall with oblong leaves growing up a woody stem into clusters of deep colored blueberries in August.
Blueberries contain a plant compound called anthocyanin, that contain a high number of antioxidants. Blueberries contain Vitamin C, K, Manganese and potassium. I am told that elders often consumed a cup of tea made from wild mint, blueberry leaves and dried blueberry fruit before sitting in council. They believed that this tea helps to make rational, clear-thinking decisions.
