Description
Common Plantain (Plantago Major) is another plant that is not indigenous to the Delta first Nations. People called it white man’s footprints as the seed seem to follow the wagon trails across Canada.
Plantain is a great food source eaten fresh. It is high in protein, contains many beneficial vitamins and minerals and treated as a medicinal plant. It is used for stomach skin, hair, bone and joint pain irritation as well to heal bug bites. It also helps irritation from burns and allergies. It can be drank as a tea mixed into sauces or smoothies or infused into oils to make great medicinal creams. We offer ground and powdered plantain. Our plantain is harvested once the seed spikes appear.
